Very pleased to have this Amazing Steampunk clock, using the E1T display tubes. This was made by Peter Sztojanov from Steampunk Alchemy (...) It was seeing Pete's work that inspired myself to make my Steampunk clocks. Another View of Peter's E1T clock running, the tubes work like miniature CRT displays and indicate the number with a blue line by the required digit. A beautifully executed clock done to Peter's exacting standards.

Írtam, hogy a találkozó előtt néhány nappal sikerült tudomást szereznem a III. EuroSteam Conról, és lóhalálában fejeztem be a ruhámat. Sajnos kiderült, hogy éppen ezen a napon van egy irodalmi pályázatom eredményhirdetése is, ezért kettőtől hatig nem voltam ott a találkozón (mindenki nyugodjon le a francba, nem nyertem), de amit láttam, azt elmesélem nektek.

These clocks are all made from original antique cases, be it wood / brass or a combination of the two. Gothic / Steampunk styling is quite popular and lends itself to Nixie clocks. This is not a DIY Geiger kit, but it is a very nice steampunk interpretation of a Geiger counter. Peter did use the kit's circuit for this counter and also the default software I modified for the 2x8 display. He also made an analog counter shown at left. Bolted onto Lebanese cedar boxes, neon tubes called "nixie tubes" display the time and temperature. These tubes are the 1950's equivalent of LED displays. Even cooler, the filaments are shaped to mimic Russian typography of the space age. Nice!

a place to start in obtaining nixie tubes is ebay. they are shipped out directly from Ukraine or mother russia warehouse. though these arent manufactured anymore they are mostly old stocks from way back in the 1970s. good ol russian tech. anyways the sudden gain popularity of nixie clock/projects causes a high demand which may caused in increased price these are the types available. small ones may cost from 2bux, lage ones 50bux (usd) each.

Since the caption on the leading photo reads "Steampunk Alchemy's 1st keyboard" I am wondering if my good friend Rich Nagy a.k.a. Datamancer hasn't got some new competition from his ancestral homeland!
